I have been married for 30 yrs and we have 2 dogs that we enjoy so much. I enjoy old movies and going to the movies, reading the newspaper at coffee shops, and wondering through hardware stores.
I am a former Social Worker who specialized in palliative and long term care. After leaving to care for my in-laws that lived long distance. I then was recovering from an illness myself; it saddened me not to return to the social work profession. Having time on my hands and needing to have a meaning in my life I went back to volunteering and have now been with Meals on Wheels Edmonton for 6 years. I train new drivers, I do information fairs, and 2 1/5 years ago they chose me to become a personal shopper for clients. I’ve met wonderful people at the office and better yet have made lasting relationships with some of my clients. One of my proudest moments at Meals on Wheels is receiving the golden Touch award. What made it extra special was this came from client’s feedback. I’ve always felt a great deal of personal satisfaction on Mondays but it was a treat to hear from others that they appreciated what I do.
My husband connecting with a former co-worker found out that SOS Supportive Outings and Services Inc was looking to branch into Edmonton. I was studying on what I wanted to do next with my career. This opportunity encompasses all the things I want to do- working with Health challenged people and seniors.
